National News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj on Monday launched a major attack on the Congress. He said that in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress did not contest to make itself victorious, but to bring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power and stop the Aam Aadmi Party.

Question on Congress strategy

In a press conference held at the party headquarters, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that generally in elections it is estimated which party is trying to win and which party is trying to defeat whom. But the attitude of the Congress in the 2025 Delhi elections was very strange. He claimed that instead of bringing itself to power, the Congress party put all its strength into defeating the AAP and indirectly making the BJP win.

Citing Devendra Yadav's interview

Saurabh Bhardwaj, citing the recent interview of Congress' Delhi state president Devendra Yadav, said that it is clearly visible in it that the Congress has decided that even if BJP wins, AAP will not be allowed to win under any circumstances. Bhardwaj raised the question that how the Delhi unit of Congress decided this strategy with the consent of Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and the top leadership.

He alleged that the Congress planned to defeat each AAP leader, but did not make any such strategy against BJP leaders. "Even Devendra Yadav did not tell what he planned to defeat BJP leaders Pravesh Verma, Rekha Gupta, or Ramesh Bidhuri. This makes it clear that the real target of Congress was AAP," Bhardwaj said.

Questions on election expenses and donations

Saurabh Bhardwaj also shared the figures of election expenses. According to him, AAP spent around Rs 14 crore in the 2025 Delhi elections, while BJP spent Rs 57 crore and Congress spent Rs 46 crore. He raised the biggest question on Congress' cash donation of Rs 44 crore.

He said, "According to the Election Commission's rule, cash donation of more than Rs 2000 cannot be taken. If Congress got Rs 44 crore in cash, it means it must have had to collect donations from lakhs of people. But no such campaign was seen on the ground. Neither pamphlets were distributed door-to-door, nor was any activity of asking for donations seen. So where did this money come from?"

Bhardwaj also questioned the silence of BJP. He said, "When AAP received Rs 1 crore through cheque, Prime Minister Modi made it a big issue. But when Congress got Rs 44 crore in cash, why is BJP silent? Why is it not being investigated?"

“Congress's face exposed”

Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that this attitude of Congress is dangerous for democracy. He said, "Congress's such ugly face was not seen even in the 1984 riots, as much has come to the fore in the 2025 Delhi elections. Today, when a poor person's slum is demolished, employment is ruined, people think that if there was a Kejriwal government, this injustice would not have happened to them."

At the end of the press conference, Bhardwaj said that the purpose of this entire exercise is to bring the real face of Congress in front of the public and its supporters. He said that now the intellectual supporters of Congress will have to think about which path Congress is going on and what is its motive.
